Here are four ways to express “bye” in Chinese.

拜拜。

Bye-bye.

This is the simplest one. Chinese people always use this one to say “good-bye” to a person, whether they will meet each other again or not.

再见!

See you (later).

Both 在 (zài) and 见 (jiàn) are the fourth tones, the falling tone.

If you know when you are going to meet a person again, for example, tomorrow, you can use this phrase
