say “hola” in Chinese

1.

Nǐ hǎo.

你好。

Hello.

你 (nǐ) The third tone, and it means you.

好 (hǎo) The third tone, and means good; fine; nice.

Notice: When two third-tone syllables are read in sequence, the first syllable turns into the second tone, i.e., the 3+3 sequence becomes a 2+3 one. For example, “ nǐ(你)” + “ hǎo (好)” is read “ ní hǎo”. However, when put in written form, the original tone is kept.

“你好 (Nǐ hǎo) Hello.” This is the most commonly used way of saying “hello” in Chinese. If it’s a little more formal for the people who are higher than you in status, you can use “您 (nín) ” instead of “你 (nǐ)”, saying “您好 (nín hǎo)” for your boss, professors, teachers or clients.

2.

hài.

嗨。

Hi. (informal)

This is just a literal translation from the English “hi”, Chinese people created this character for “hi”, and this character is only for this meaning, this is a very casual one.

When you want to say “hola” to someone in Chinese, you can say “嗨 (hài)”, this is just like “hi” in English.
